President’s Message

Dear Prospective Students,

Welcome to the ACEMLE experience, a comprehensive forum to review the necessary skills needed to score well on the USMLE – Step 1. This program aspires to provide a conclusive, in-depth analysis of all medical basic science material needed to achieve an out-standing score on Step 1, 2 and 3. The program is structured in a format such that every participant that completes the ACEMLE program is guaranteed to achieve a passing score, the first time you write your Boards!

My colleagues and I are excited you have taken the opportunity to review our program. At ACEMLE we believe that a strong foundation of the basic sciences coupled with a comprehensive, in-depth review program is a key to attain a high grade on the USMLE-Steps. Most US- based USMLE review programs are geared towards those individuals stepping out from a US or Canadian medical schools. However, our program’s main objective is focused towards the vast growing population of foreign medical student, especially those coming out of Caribbean schools. Through evidence in teaching hospitals and personal interactions, it is clear that Caribbean students are not being provided with the adequate material to preform optimally on the Boards. This background, coupled with a rapid, in-conclusive USMLE step program can only further exacerbate a bad situation.

That is why at ACEMLE our belief is to provide these students with in-depth, individualized review coverage of all basic science material. Our highly trained staffs have a large medical background and are well equipped to instruct, even the toughest of topics. Many of my colleagues are fully trained, practicing doctors who bring with them personal, one-on-one experience from the work place as well as recent knowledge of writing the USMLE- Step 1 themselves.

Our main goal is to stand as an inclusive USMLE – Step 1 Prep course with an unflawed, untarnished passing record. This only benefits you, the student. We are so confident in our program that we guarantee all of our students will achieve a passing grade on their first attempt of writing the USMLE.

ACEMLE is also a great alternative for those students who find themselves struggling with the basic science material and who are on a budget. Our reasonable price only further amplifies our desire to teach those students who want to learn, regardless of financial background. Our program is not fixated on making a dollar profit; instead we strive to hold the most successful students.

Our review package is a 99 days long course that will examine and dissect the various concepts tested on the USMLE. Special emphasis will be placed on high yield information. Our cost will guarantee you a seat in our lecture, access to teaching aids, one-one time with the professor and course reading material.
Thank you
Dr. Moneer Werdeg
President of ACEMLE

Study Tips

Make A Schedule

Make a schedule and stick to it. With the same token don’t be so hard on yourself. Be lenient. If you fall behind give yourself an extra day to catch up and make sure you take a break once a week so you don’t burn out!

Use Flow Charts And Diagrams

The best way to remember microbiology and biochemistry for the steps is to create flow charts and diagrams. Stick them on your wall and review them every day and you’ll remember them in no time!

Make Cue Cards

Another tough subject to tackle is pharmacology for Step 1. As your reviewing pharmacology the first time through, create cue cards. Make the cue cards yourself so that you can personalize them by adding notes on the cue cards from points you learned from doing questions.

Find A Study Partner Or Group Study

There are many benefits in studying with a partner or in a group. You can prevent procrastination as you need to pull your weight and come prepared for the discussion at hand.

Use The Mnemonics Given In The ACMLE Books

Like most students it can be hard to recall the details required to score excellent on Step 1. Sometimes going that extra mile and knowing a few details can get you a higher score, so make use of the easy mnemonics given in the ACMLE books.

Proactive Studying

While reviewing for Step 1 - be a proactive learner. What this means is that, whether you are reviewing material systemically or reviewing questions, if you stumble upon a term or condition you didn’t know about – look it up. Use your resources at hand or just simply use search engines on the web.

Concepts And Repetition

When studying for Step 1, review all systems and create concepts of each topic learnt. Review thoroughly the first time through. After developing concepts you may not remember everything and so repetition is key for memory! You will review material not only through review books but also by doing questions. By the end of your studying you will have reviewed each system many, many times!

Breakdown Suffixes To Recall Terminology

It may sound silly but sometimes students feel so under pressure they forget even the simplest terms. Stay calm. Take a deep breath. Look at the word and break it down. Sometimes you might be able to make an educated guess and get the answer correct and be on the right path!

ACEMLE QBank

Questions, questions, questions! Start by doing a block a day and spend time revising each question. In the beginning, use questions as a learning tool and not so much to test your knowledge. Don’t worry about getting all the questions correct either. If you’re scoring __ % near the end of your review, you are close to being ready for the exam and will probably get an excellent score!

Reinforce Lectures With Videos

Whether you are taking the ACMLE live course or just purchasing the ACMLE review books, make sure you reinforce what you learned with the online ACMLE videos. The online videos are an excellent study tool and really help in clarifying concepts!

Exercise Your Brain And Your Body

Sitting and studying for endless hours can really take a toll on your mind and body. Physical exercise is important for your body’s health and as well for your brain to stay sharp. Step away from the books and exercise a few days a week – even if it’s just going for a quick walk. It will help you keep your study stamina running longer!

Pick An Exam Date

Don’t doubt yourself. You may think you’re not ready but pick an exam date so you have a goal. Put in the extra effort into studying – it’s crunch time! Learn to study under pressure as time will be an important factor during the exam itself.

Good luck & happy studying!
